Gladys Hendrix 01/05/1999 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Gladys Hendrix, of Grapevine, Texas, formerly of Clinton, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Mrs. Hendrix died Dec. 27, 1998, in Grapevine. She was employed as personal secretary to U.S. Congressman Tom Tauke in Washington, D.C., and then became in 1985 personal assistant to Iowa's First Lady, Chris Branstad. Mrs. Hendrix retired in 1992. In earlier years, she was secretary for Clinton County Republican Central Committee. Gladys Pedersen was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Miles. She married Clyde Hendrix in 1950. He died in 1965. Memorials may be made to the YMCA. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Rock, Keller, Texas; a son, David, West Des Moines; four grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Erichson, Clinton.
