The Clinton Herald Tuesday August 30, 1932 p. 5 Mrs. Caroline Todtz, 79, a resident of this vicinity for more than half a century died at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the home of her son, Louis Todtz, living north of the city, following an illness since the first of the year. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, with a prayer at 1:30 o'clock in St. John's Lutheran church. The Rev. John P. Schulz will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Caroline Voss was born June 29, 1853, in Tessen, near Meckleinbery --chrien, Germany, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Voss. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany. In 1875 she was married to Frederick Todtz in Germany. They came to the United States and directly to Clinton in 1876, later moving to a farm north of the old town of Lyons. Mr. Todtz preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1915, after which she moved to this city to live, two years ago when her health failed she moved to the home of her son. There she has been cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Todtz. Of her immediate family she is survived by six sons, John Todtz of Minneapolis, Minn., Louis Todtz, William Todtz and Henry Todtz of this city, Charles Todtz of McCausland and Albert Todtz of Grand Mound; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son Frederick, Jr., died Feb. 22, 1927. During her long residence in this vicinity Mrs. Todtz was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church. She was well known throughout the county, and was a women of many admirable traits.
