The Clinton Herald Saturday February 17, 1917 p. 8 Theodore G. Pelton 217 North Second street, aged 87, one of the oldest residents of the city, died this morning at Agatha hospital at 5:30 o'clock, where he was removed Thursday for treatment, following a fall at his home Wednesday, which resulted in a fractured hip. Death was due to the infirmities of age and from a physical shock, caused by the fall. He was born in New York state, July 4, 1830. In 1860 he came to Iowa, and a few years later located in Lyons, where he had since resided. He was an expert gunsmith and machinist, was one of the pioneer manufacturers of gasoline engines in the state of Iowa. He retired from active work a number of years ago. The survivors are four sons, Charles and A.M. Pelton of Clinton and two sons in New York. Funeral services will probably be held Monday. Friends are kindly asked to omit flowers. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
