The Clinton Herald Thursday July 24, 1919 p. 8 Death came to Freeman Buell at 12:30 Wednesday noon at the home of his sister, Mrs. R. Ball in west Pearl street. His death resulted from old age and a complication of diseases following an injury which he suffered during the civil war and which caused him more or less trouble ever since he was discharged from service. Deceased was born near Akron, Ohio, Sept. 29th, 1840, bring the youngest of four children born to George and Elexta Dix Buell. He cam to Iowa with his parents in early childhood which it was yet a territory and settled in Lyons where he grew to manhood and her he spent the greater part of his life following his trade as a cooper. Mr. Buell served for three years with Co. B, First Iowa Cavalry under the command of the late Capt. Joseph T. Foster. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Ball, six children, and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W.M. Swann of the Community church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ball in West Pearl street and due to illness in the family must necessarily be private. Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery. Friends are kindly requested to omit flowers.
