The Clinton Herald Tuesday November 29, 1994 p. 9 Robert Dean "Bob" Buell, 53, of 1264 Dover St., Iowa City, died Sunday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, as a result of complicatons following a lung transplant performed Nov. 19. The transplant was necessitated by Alpha One Genetic Emphysema. The funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lutheran Church of Atonement in Clinton, with the Rev. Michael Brewer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at George L. Gay Funeral Home, Iowa City, where a 6 p.m. prayer service will be held. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until the service hour Thursday at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Mr. Buell was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Clinton, to William and Elfrieda Dethmann Buell. He married Sharon "Sheri" Lentz, Nov. 19, 1971, in Seoul, Korea. He attended Clinton High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He later attended Iowa State University where he also wrestled. Mr. Buell was a 20-year veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Army Security Agency, retiring as sergeant first class, and a recipient of the Defense Meritorious Service and Good Conduct medals. Following his military service, he was employed with Holiday Mobile Homes in North Liberty, and later, the University of Iowa. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Hawk Wrestling Club, Pi Kappa Alpha and The Retired Enlisted Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles of Iowa City; two daughters, Deana and Elizabeth Buell, both of Iowa City; his mother of Clinton; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by a sister, three brothers, a niece and his father. Death date: Nov. 27, 1994.
