The Clinton Herald Thursday November 4, 1926 p. 8 Patrick McEleney, 831 North Eighth street, one of the community's most respected citizens, passed away Wednesday evening at 6:45 o'clock at his home following an illness of two months' duration. Death was caused by a complication of diseases. The funeral will be held Friday morning with requiem mass at St. Irenaeus church at 9 o'clock. The Rev. James Comerford will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Patrick McEleney was born March 31, 1850, in Miltown, County Donegal, Ireland, and was seventy-six years of age at the time of his demise. In 1869 he came to America and located at Boston, Mass., where he resided for two years, then came to Lyons, where he has since resided. For many years he was a valuable employe of the Northwestern and for ten years has been a pensioned employe, however, during that time he was very active and was popularly known to a host of friends and business accociates, with whome he came in contact at the McEleney Auto Co., where he assisted his sons, Emmet and Leo McEleney. Until his heath failed, Mr. McEleney was a daily visitor at the office and was in charge of the gasoline sales. In 1879 he was united in marrage with Miss Susan McEleney who preceded him in death in November, 1917. Mr. McEleney was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Irenaeus church, and a mmeber of the Lyons Veteran Firemen's association. Surviving him there is one daughter, Mrs. Leonard Cosman, and three sons, William McEleney, Emmet McEleney and Leo McEleney. There is also one sister, Miss Susan McEleney, oif Miltown, Ireland, and four brothers, Dan McEleney of Miltown, Ireland, Michael McEleney of this city, Bernard and Neil McEleney of Boston, Mass., and Edward McEleney of Chicago. The latter is ill and will be unable to attend the funeral.
