The Clinton Daily Herald January 27, 1902 p. 6 Mrs. James McEleney, Sr., died suddenly Sunday evening at her home, on the corner of Eighth street and Seventh avenue, this city. She had apparently been as well as usual during the day, and in the early evening was about the house, attending to her household duties. She went to the shed to milk the cow at 6 o'clock, and while there was taken with a fainting spell. Members of the family were alarmed and carried her to the house. Medical attendance was summoned, and Father Comerford, pastor of St. Irenaeus church, sent for, arriving in time to administer the last rites of the church, before she passed quietly away. The news of her death was heard with surprise and regret by her many friends, won during her long residence in the city. She was 71 years of age, and one of Lyons' most well known and respected residents. Surviving the deceased are her husband, a daughter and four sons, one of her sons, John McEleney, passing away a few months ago. The funeral arrangements were not announced today, as two sons, making their home in Minnesota, have not been heard from.
