The Clinton Herald Thursday October 12, 1972 p. 8 Howard B. McEleney, 78, The Alverno, died this morning in Mercy Hospital. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Ireneaus Chruch with the Rev. Phillip Ryan officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Howard, son of Michael and Bridget Rogers McEleney, was born Nov. 2, 1893 in Clinton. He was a World War I veteran, charter member of the former Lyons Ex-Servicemen's Association and a retired engineer for the Chicago North Western Railway. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bruhn of Clinton and Mrs. Alicia Goldsberry of Des Moines; two brothers, William of Clinton and Louis of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one wife; one son and two brothers.
