The Clinton Herald May 11, 1998 Leonard F. Cossman, 78, of 1228 Pershing Blvd., died Saturday at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald Young officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home, where a 7 p.m. vigil service will be conducted. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim McDermott, Paul Krentz, Henry Knudsen, Andrew Cossman and Joe Cossman, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be William Ritenour. He was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Lyons, to Leonard and Mary McEleney Cossman. He married Mary McDermott, Oct. 2, 1948, in Clinton. He was a 1937 graduate of Lyons High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the United States Army with the invasion of Africa and Italy. He had been employed with E.I. DuPont Co., retiring in 1978. He was a member of the DuPont 25-year Club and of Prince of Peace Parish. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Cossman of Clinton, and Mrs. Beth (Paul) Krentz of Naperville, Ill.; three sons, Leonard Crossman Jr. of Parkersburg, W.Va., Joe Corssman of Des Moines; six grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Cossman of Clinton; a sister, Lucille Busk of Clinton; and five nieces and a nephew. Death date: May 9, 1998.
