David Parcel

CLINTON — David Parcel, age 88, of Clinton, died Monday, November 21, 2005 at University Hospital, Iowa City, following a brief illness.

Private family services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, Iowa with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery, rural Monticello. Rev. Surviving is his wife, Lena, 3 children, Barbara Smith, Davenport, Colin Reuter, Denver, Colorado, Andrew Parcel, Carrolton, Texas, 7 Grandchildren and 13, great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 sisters, Anna Katherine Larue and Hazel Smith, and a brother, John.

David William Parcel was born March 4, 1917 at Belle Plaine, Iowa. He was the son of Andrew J. and Martha Williams, Parcel. David graduated from the Maquoketa Community Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. Following his discharge from the Army in June of 1945 David was employed at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Clinton. David W. Parcel and Lena Schoon Reuter were married July 30, 1949 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. From 1967 until he retired in 1982 David worked for Alcoa in Riverdale, Iowa.
