CALAMUS — Miriam Olson, 80, of Calamus, died Monday at Wheatland Manor.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Service of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. The Rev. Dan Olson will be officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior Cemetery, rural Calamus.

Pallbearers will be Kurt Olson, Ron Schmitt, Bill Clark, Matt Olson, James Knoche, Tait Steines, Darla Olson, Karin Schmitt, Ange Clark Andrea Olson, Julie Olson, Trina Knoche and Jessica Steines.

She was born Jan. 2, 1925, in rural Grand Mound to George and Phyllis Osborne Telford. She married Noel Olson on Dec. 27, 1945, at the First Congregational Church, DeWitt.

She graduated from DeWitt High School.

She worked with the county 4-H and Farm Bureau offices. She and her husband farmed in rural Calamus for many years until retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bliedorn, where she was involved in numerous church activities. She was a 4-H leader for many years, president of the Calamus School PTA and music boosters. She was active in the Clinton County Cowbelles; she received the Elanco Cowgal Award. She was active in the Lions and Cattleman associations.

Survivors include her husband; children, Steve (Eunice) Olson of DeWitt, Tom (Judy) Olson of Calamus, Mrs. Julie (Terry) Steines of Calamus; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Drummond of Bellevue and Mrs. Valdene (DeLane) Pooch of Humboldt; and nieces and nephews.
