Geneva M. Haring

HANOVER, Ill. — Geneva M. Haring, 95, of Hanover, died Friday at the Elizabeth (Ill.) Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Hanover United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the service time today at the church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover.

She was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Hanover to Charles and Sadie Wells Kaufman. She married Harold F. Haring on Dec. 26, 1939, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

She attended Hanover schools. She attended the University of Dubuque and received her master’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville.

She taught in various country schools in the Hanover and Elizabeth area. She also taught math and history in Albany, Port Byron and Fulton, Ill., schools before retiring in 1980. After she retired, she helped in hospice, caring for many people in the Savanna area. She also volunteered by teaching people who could not read, write or do arithmetic.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Hanover, Presbyterian Women’s Society and National Educational Association.

Survivors include one daughter in-law, Rosemary Haring; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Flossie Sullivan of Dubuque; one sister in-law, Mary Kaufman of Galena, Ill.; and one brother in-law, Austin Stump of Warren, Ill.

Memorials may be given in her name.
