WATERLOO — Henry I. Fitz, 83, of Waterloo, died Saturday Nov. 5, 2005 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Sumner to John and Anna Trosst Fitz. He married Lucille Sigler on May 17, 1943; they divorced. He then married Lela Thompson on Sept. 13, 1971, in Las Vegas; she died in 1995. He then married Florana Ketelsen on Sept. 28, 1997, in Waterloo.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He worked as a supervisor with John Deere before retiring in 1975.

He was past commander of Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and volunteered at Cedar Valley Hospice.

Survivors include his wife, Florana Fitz of Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. Janelle (Bill) Bentz of Waterloo and Jan Orner of Waterloo; one stepson, Russell (Mary) Kinkaid of Shell Rock; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Pam (Lonnie) Hartema of New Hartford; one brother-in-law, Vince Herman of Fredricksburg; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife, one brother and four sisters.
