Lew E. Sear

CLINTON — Lew E. Sear, 68, of Clinton, died Thursday Nov. 3, 2005 at his home.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home. Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe, Garold and Bob Caven, Christopher and Jordan Rickertsen, Tommy Hodina and Garth Rickertsen.

He was born July 26, 1937, in Clinton, to Burtis and Bernelda Busk Sear. He married Betty Caven on Dec. 29, 1960, in Joliet, Ill.

He worked for Climax Engines as an assembler for more than 15 years. It later became known as Waukasha Motors. He served with the Iowa National Guard for more than 25 years, and he was a staff sergeant with the 234th Signal Battalion in Clinton.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and E.A.N.G.U.S.

He is survived by Betty Sear, with whom he made his home; two daughters, Mrs. Cindy (Robert) Rickertsen of Fulton, Ill., and Mrs. Sheila (Matt) Frakes of Valley Falls, Kan.; a son, Rusty Sear of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; his mother, Florence Sear of Clinton; a brother, Dan Sear of Cypress, Texas; and a stepbrother, William Bugbee of Fargo, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister-in-law and a niece.

Death Date: Nov. 3, 2005.
