Robert J. Strickland

BELLEVUE - Robert J. Strickland, 66, of Bellevue and formerly of Romeoville, Ill., died Saturday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

There will be Masonic services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date. Military rites will be accorded by Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Visitation will be from noon until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born March 19, 1939, in Etowah, Tenn., to Wayne and Lola Vaughn. He married Marjorie Faye Rhodes on Dec. 18, 1969, in West Chicago, Ill. She died in 2001.

He was a Marine Corps veteran.

He worked as a tool and die maker with GM and Argonne National Laboratory later teaching the trade at Moraine Valley College, Palos Hills, Ill.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tammy (Paul) Robinson of Machesney Park, Ill., Mrs. Mistey (Jerry) Kosek of Channahon, Ill., and Kimberly Strickland of Rockford, Ill.; three grandchildren; one brother, Daniel (Karen) Vaughn of Garland, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Diane (Daniel) Gaines of Machesney Park; and his companion and caregiver, Beverly Holdgrafer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one brother.
