Charlie Louise Darr, 97, formerly of Ottumwa, died Tuesday, October 12, 2005, in Clinton where she had resided for the past five months.

She was born Feb. 10, 1908, in Prairie Hill, Mo., the youngest daughter of W.G. and Hattie Talkington Wright. She married John V. Darr Nov. 23, 1927 in Mssouri. He died Feb, 21, 1979.

She had attended Yorksville State Teachers College and taught school briefly. Charlie was an accomplished seamstress, musician and artist. She had been a member of the Methodist Church for 60 years in Ottumwa, Kings Daughters and PEO Chapter H.R.

She was preceded in death, by her husband, a great granddaughter and two sisters.

Survivors include her son, J.R. (Jack) Darr and his wife, Lynne; two granddaughters, Mrs. Mark (LaRee) Mangler and Mrs. Jon (Merrill) Clausen; and four great grandchildren, Drew and Jessica Mangler and Lauren and Kevin Clausen, all of Clinton.

A private graveside service will be held in Ottumwa.
