Betty Gravert, 75, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday, September 29, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. Rev. Keith Speaks will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Bill Cooper, Mark Beck, Ted Claeys, Doug Hinkle, John Smith and Bob Christopherson. Family and friends may visit 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Memorials may be left to Grace Camp.
The daughter of Fred and Bessie M. (Olson) Chandler, Betty Mae Gravert was born August 12, 1930, in Savanna, Ill. Betty grew up in Maquoketa, Iowa. She moved to DeWitt when she married Eldin John Gravert on September 1, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Eldin died on March 29, 2001.
Before her retirement, Betty had been a floral designer at Selk's Flowers, DeWitt.
She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, where she was on Grace Camp board. Grace Church was pretty much her life. She was an avid Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. She enjoyed playing cards and was a past girlscout leader.
Betty is survived by Jeff Gravert and his family, Laura, Melissa, and Tony Martens; Bill Nye; Clara and Joe Cooper; Marilyn Gravert; and Fran and Marv Hinkle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eldin, daughter, Nan Nye, sisters, Amelia Miller, Bea Cooper, and Nadine Beck, and her brother, Bob Chandler.
