Donald J. ”Don“ Krantz, 72, of Maquoketa, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque.

There will be a celebration of his life at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

He was born Aug.17, 1933, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Ora L. and Dorothy M. Cathman Krantz. He married Patricia J. ”Pat“ Carr on Dec. 13, 1958, in Nashua.

He was a 1952 graduate of Bloomington (Wis.) High School.

He was a non-wartime veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1956 to 1958.

He worked with Clinton Engines in Maquoketa from 1955 to 1964 in the service department. He then worked with J.I. Case in Bettendorf from 1964 to 1969. In 1970, he began working at John Deere Works in Dubuque and then Davenport before retiring in 1992.

He was a 23-year member of the Maquoketa Athletic Booster Club.

Survivors include his wife; children, Mrs. Deb (Robert Jr.) Lane of Maquoketa, Mrs. Dianne (Kevin) Clark of Maquoketa and Vicki Krantz (fiance Kevin Shock) of Waterloo; six grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Gerald (Bonnie) Krantz of Bloomington; and one sister, Mrs. Judy (Joseph) Ley of Bagley, Wis.

A Donald J. ”Don“ Krantz Memorial Fund has been established.
