David E. Blythe, 74, died on Friday, May 13, 2005, at his home in DeWitt.
He was born January 7, 1931, in Hale, Iowa, the son of Ray and Irma (Wilkin) Blythe.
David was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
On September 22, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Muhs in DeWitt.
He had worked in appliance service and later as a meter reader for Iowa Electric Light and Power Company, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Debra Blythe, DeWitt, Iowa, Penny (Joe) Farrell, DeWitt, Iowa, and Cindy Blythe, DeWitt; four grandchildren, Melissa Farrell, Elizabeth Farrell, Sara Farrell and Austin David Blythe; two sisters, Dorothy Milota and Eleanor (Mrs. George) Leslie, Oxford Junction, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Blythe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Dallas Blythe.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Rev. James Kledis will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, Iowa. Military graveside rites will be by the DeWitt American Legion Eugene McManus Post 238, DeWitt.
Pallbearers will be Joe Farrell, Tom Leslie, Garry Trimble, Jamie Lively, Alan Hulsebusch and Tyler Trimble.
Visitation will be 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
Memorials may be directed to VNA Hospice.
