Gerald V. Donahue,77, of DeWitt, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus in Davenport. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at St. Philip and James Catholic Church in Grand Mound, Iowa. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Grand Mound. A visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home with a rosary at approximately 8 p.m. A visitation will 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Gerald Vincent Donahue was born Feb. 13, 1927, the son of Joseph T. and Mary A. (Ritter) Donahue. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School. He married Roberta Farwell in Clinton, Iowa. He later married Gwendolyn Paulsen in Rock Island on July 14, 1980. He enjoyed his family, was an avid Democrat and his favorite show was "Judge Judy."
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn; five sons, Patrick R. (Deborah), Camanche, Iowa, Robert J., Davenport, Thomas M. (Michelle), Chandler, Ariz., Kevin G. (Julie), DeWitt, and Vincent E. (Barb), DeWitt; two daughters, Teresa A. Donahue, DeWitt, and Mary L. (Brent) Miller, San Diego; three stepsons, Steven (Dawn) Paulsen, DeWitt, Russell (Mary) Paulsen, DeWitt, and William (Nancy) Paulsen, Pueblo, Colo.; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadine (Donald) McDermott, Clinton; and two brothers, Donald, DeWitt, and Frances (Patricia), Grand Mound.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and three grandchildren.
