James W. Krava, 85, of Camanche passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the Alverno.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the service time at the church. James William Krava was born October 25, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Frank and Frances (Vovos) Krava. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Clinton. He married Patsy (Puetsch) on October 20, 1956 in Clinton, Iowa; she preceded him in death on July 4, 2019. Jim worked for the Camanche School District as a custodian for 14 years, retiring in 2002. Prior to that he was Union Carpenter Local #678 and worked for Clinton Corn for nearly 20 years from 1954-1973.

Jim was a charter member of the Church of Visitation in Camanche; he continued to stay very active in his church with things such as training altar servers, long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and was chosen for the St. George Award. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and Reserve Police in Camanche. He volunteered with the boy scouts helping many scouts earn their First Aid Merit Badge. Jim was an avid fan of the Clinton Lumberkings and enjoyed time with family and friends.

James is survived by his two children: Sallie Ann (John) Fischer of Picayune, Mississippi and Thomas J. Krava of West Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and Patsy’s siblings: Irene (Howard) Nelson of Camanche; Cindy Puetsch of Davenport and Chris Puetsch of Temple, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
