Richard Feldpausch, 81, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away early Thursday morning, July 7, 2022, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.

Richard Raphael Feldpausch was born in Clinton, Iowa, to Raphael and Helen (Fitzpatrick) Feldpausch. After graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1958 he began farming with his father and uncle. Richard was united in marriage to Mary Badtram on December 6, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. The couple resided on the family farm north of DeWitt, where they raised their family and continued farming. Richard also worked at Cargill Seed for a number of years.

Richard was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. He was also a member of Clinton County Cattleman’s Association, the Sunrise Saddle Club, and the FFA Alumni. Richard was elected Clinton County Township Trustee, and served as Rabbit Superintendent for the Clinton County Fair. He was the recipient of an honorary Iowa FFA degree. Richard enjoyed traveling with family to livestock shows and the Iowa State Fair.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; children, Brian (Jen) Feldpausch of Beaman, Karen (Dominic) Hogan of Monticello, and Teresa (Brent) Perry of Eldora; grandchildren, Abby, Nick, and Will Feldpausch, Caleb, Adele, and Claire Hogan, and Lucas, Hannah, and Ryan Perry; and a son-in-law, Koen Symens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Ann Symens, and in-laws.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022, in the church, the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
