Joan Hinck, 89, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 8, 2022, at Fieldstone of DeWitt.

Joan Virginia Schmidt was born September 5, 1932, to George and Helen (Seyfert) Schmidt in Maquoketa, Iowa. She graduated from Delmar High School in 1950. Joan was united in marriage to Paul Hinck on November 7, 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, by her father-in-law, the Rev. Theodore Hinck. Joan was employed at Farm Bureau, Selk’s Floral, Welton Elementary School, Walker’s Department Store and Iowa Mutual. Joan also worked alongside Paul on the farm. Paul preceded her in death January 24, 2014.

Joan was an active member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport. She enjoyed sending cards with letters to family and friends, playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending livestock shows, and watching sports.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Loren) Wuebker of Rockwell City, Nancy Schneckloth of DeWitt, and Judy Hinck of Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Reggie (Sarah) Voyles, and Ryan (Leann) Voyles, and Renee, Greg, and Abby Schneckloth; great-grandchildren, William, Colten, Landon, Levi, Millie, and Reagan Voyles; 5 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Maxine Hinck, Vicki (Allen) Nauss, Trudy Hinck, Jeanne (Lauren) Hansen, and Karalee (Harold) EltZroth; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert (Irene) Schmidt, son-in-law, Maurice Voyles, sisters-in-law, Ruth (Bob) Stoll and Cordy (Mel) Deter, brothers-in-law, Joel Hinck and John Hinck, and a special family friend, Raymond Cook.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 6021 Northwest Blvd. Davenport, Iowa. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church or a favorite charity.
