Louis J. Engler ,Grocer,Dead

Louis J Engler, 66, 2910 Pershing Blvd, operator north-end grocer for over 30 years, died at 8:35 pm Sunday in Mercy Hospital. Engler suffered a fractured hip several weeks ago in a fall at his store, 2910 Pershing Blvd. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m, in ST. Irenaeus Church. Rev. Charles Shepler , Davenport, officiating. Burial will be in St Irenaeus Cemetery.

The body now reposes at the Pape funeral home where friend may call. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. He was born July 21, 1881 in Charlotte, Iowa to John and Helena (Newhaus) Engler . He was married to Sophia Wulf June 30 1909 in the St Boniface rectory . He was a member of U.C.T. council 331,B.P.O.E. lodge 199 ,The Odeon association and the Izaak Walton league.
Surviving are his mother Mrs Helena Engler of Clinton ; five brothers Paul , Jake and Matt of Clinton, Francis and John of Beloit, Wisc.; four sisters, Mrs Eva Heinemann, Mrs Kathryn Kustes and Mrs Margaret Beecher ,of Clinton, Mrs. Helen Clancy ,of Peoria Ill and several nieces and nephews.

We was preceded in death by his wife April 12, 1943 and his father Oct 1. 1942.
