Carl Nels Machande, 93, of Clinton, Iowa passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at West Wing Place, DeWitt, IA.
Funeral Services will be 10:00AM, Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 6:00PM Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Taplin, Joshua Machande, Jay Harbron and Leesa Budde.

Carl was born November 7, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Herman W. and Johanna (Kair) Machande. He was a 1946 Delmar High School graduate. He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran. Carl married Lola Taplin on May 29, 1954 in Englewood, Colorado; Lola died March 24, 2022.
Carl was employed as the Corporate Safety and Rules Manager for the Milwaukee Railroad for many years, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Carl enjoyed golf, camping and loved and wrote music. He loved to sing and play the guitar and dobro and had a beautiful voice. After retirement, Carl and Lola traveled extensively in their RV in and out of the US, from Alaska to Ecuador, then decided to make New Mexico their home with trips to Iowa each summer.

Carl is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Emmett (Chris) Machande of Sabula, Iowa and Carmen Machande Loots of Charlotte, Iowa; great-nieces and great nephews and his sister-in-law, Alice Machande of Clinton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and his son James, in 1974.
