Gary L. White, 73, of Bettendorf, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home in Bettendorf, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Memphis St. Jude's Hospital for Children or VVA Chapter 299. Gary was born in Mason City, IA, on January 11, 1949. He was the son of Wayne and Mildred (Simkins) White. Gary served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was formerly married to Pamela Ring of Manly, Iowa and they had two children, Brandy and Aaron. He moved to Park View, Iowa and worked for Caterpillar and Uniparts Olsen in Eldridge, retiring in 2015.
He married Marilyn Vos Murray in 2004 in Davenport.
He was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Unit 299 of Rock Island where he served on the honor guard, as President and served on the Board of Directors. . He was an avid Hawkeye and Navy Blue Angels fan and enjoyed traveling, especially every two years to his USS Bausell Reunion. Gary dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed by them and his beloved dog, Heidi.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marilyn, daughter, Brandy (John) Clogg, Des Moines, son, Aaron White, Pekin, IL stepdaughter, Shelby Murray, Clinton, IA, sisters, Patricia Doyle, Davenport and Kathy (Steve) Rosendahl, Nora Springs, IA, brother, Larry (Dana) White, Waterloo, IA, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. His parents preceded him in death.
