Lynn Barten, 59, formerly of Charlotte, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center.

Lynn was born June 11, 1962, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Roy and Ruth (Rickertsen) Barten. He attended schools in Welton, DeWitt, and Goose Lake. He was married to Debra Matthiae, with whom he had two children. They later divorced. He was later married to Margaret “Muggs” Eischen for over 20 years, she preceded him in death. Lynn worked many different jobs and was talented in many ways. He was a skilled carpenter and woodworker, an excellent cook, and good problem solver. He had a great sense of humor and would often have his family and friends rolling on the floor with laughter, maybe not always for the best reasons, but it was always a good time.

He is survived by his children, Monica Barten of DeWitt, and Dustin Barten of Davenport; a grandson, Logan; his father, Roy; siblings, Lon Barten, Shawn Barten, and Sheila Witt; brother-in-law, James Atwater; nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Becky Willis.

He was preceded in death by his wife Muggs, mother Ruth, brother Lee, sister Sally Atwater, niece Leah Barten, and brother-in-law, Rob Witt.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Sylvia Larssen will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
