JEANNE PERINO Clinton
Jeanne Perino, 100, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died peacefully at her home Monday March 14, 2022, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of John J. and Ida E. (Hickey) Cannan. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1940 and attended Mount St. Clair College, both in Clinton. She married Frank E. Perino, and he preceded her in death in 1998. Jeanne was employed at Schick General Hospital (Clinton, Iowa), Hines VA Hospital (Maywood, Ill.) and the VA Domiciliary (Clinton, Iowa). She also was a homemaker. Frank and Jeanne raised their family in Clinton and she provided loving care for many extended family members. She was a lifelong resident of Clinton, member of St. Mary's then St. Irenaeus parishes until moving to Iowa City in 2010. Surviving are her children, Mary Jeanne (Kirk) Phillips of Iowa City, Iowa, John M. (Julie) Perino of Rockford, Ill., Ann T. Perino, MD of Iowa City, Iowa, and Joseph E. (Michelle) Perino of Clinton, Iowa; her grandson, Michel Francis Perino of Rockford, Ill.; and included among family is Scott H. Cunningham of Windsor, Colo., who was a beloved honorary member of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The Rosary will be recited for her at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton, Ill., followed by the visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the Mass. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa, with the Rev. Ken Kuntz officiating. Burial will conclude at St. Mary's Cemetery in Clinton. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care Jeanne received by the staff of Superior Care Iowa. Her caregivers brought peace and joy to her days, allowing her to live out a long and beautiful life at home, as she wanted.
