Mrs. Hazel Mae Harksen, 77, former resident of DeWitt, died Tuesday in Jackson County Hospital, Maquoketa, after a long illness.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in McGinnis Funeral Home, DeWitt, with the Rev. Cecil Wells, pastor of United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today.
Hazel M. Myers was born March 9, 1897, in Clinton County, the daughter of Marcellus and Hattie Lehman Myers. She married Alfred William Harksen Oct. 18, 1913, and had been a resident of DeWitt for 42 years. For the last year she had made her home with a daughter in Maquoketa.
Surviving is the daughter, Mrs. Henry D. (Iva) Smith; one son, Donald, Clinton; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Harksen was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one sister.
