John J. Connole 74, of Petersville, Iowa, passed away, Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at Buzzy’s in Welton.

John was born on August 1, 1947, in Petersville, Iowa, to John and Bernadette (Costello) Connole. He attended grade school in Petersville and graduated from Northeast/Elvira in 1965 and was described in his yearbook as “Tall and Terrific.” He was a great athlete and excelled in baseball and basketball. John also attended Clinton Community College, NW Missouri State and St. Ambrose University. He served in the Army as a Military Police Officer. John lived his life on the family farm with his wife, Brenda. He currently worked as a real estate and insurance agent at Associated Insurance in DeWitt, and most recently loved watching his grandkids ride the gator around the farm and having grandma/grandpa “summer camp.”

When friends and family describe “Johnny” they say, “He’s the best of the best.” He impacted all he knew with his gentle spirit, by sharing stories and a Budweiser with his “Thirsty Thursday” friends and by attending all of his grandkids’ events. He was a quiet soul with a huge heart who will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Brenda (Rubel) Snyder; and children, Tara (Erik) Notz of Maquoketa, Iowa, Brandon (Jessica) Snyder of Belleville, Illinois, Shiloh Snyder of Mesa, Arizona and Dakota Snyder of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Max, Kye, and Fin Notz, and Kate, Claire, Cora, and Clark Snyder; sisters Eileen DeMario of Kirkville, New York, and Mary (Tom) Mauger of Sun City West, Arizona; a niece, Jamie and nephew, Greg.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bernadette Connole, his brother-in-law, Louie DeMario, and many aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be made to the family for a scholarship fund at Northeast Community Schools to be established in his memory.
