Raymond “Ray” Glenn Dellit, 98, of Clinton, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at Sarah Harding, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Journey Church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30AM until the service hour Friday at church. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com. Pallbearers will be Brandon Kooi, Logan Kooi, Greg Kelly, Jimmy Huling, Tom Dellit and Joe Dellit.

Ray was born June 25, 1923 in Clinton, the son of Louis H and Anna (Weber) Dellit. He was a 1941 Clinton High School graduate. Ray had been employed as a millwright at DuPont for more than 37 years, retiring in 1983.
He married Dorcas Ann Hagler December 27, 1968; she died April 27, 2017.
Ray was a WWII, U. S. Navy veteran, enlisting November 18, 1942 with his twin brother, Wayne. He served in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

He was a member of the Journey Church and was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 190, Clinton. Ray went on a mission trip with the Evangelical Free Church to the Ukraine in 2000 and Dorcas and Ray led a Bible study group at Bluff Terrace for ten years. Ray and Dorcus loved to travel and wintered in Arizona for many years. He was an avid woodworker and gardener and enjoyed his roses. He was a sports fan and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. Ray especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his sons, Terry (Pam) Dellit of Clinton, IA and Gary Dellit of Fairfield, IA; Son-in-law, Steve Kelly of Camanche, IA several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and special friend, Mike Britt
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, four daughters: Raeann Wesa, Cindy Kelly, Dorcas Colschen and Dawn Cartee and eight brothers and sisters.

Memorials can be made to the Journey Church or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
