Donald R. Putnam (1936-2021)

Donald R. Putnam, 85, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, November 1, 2021 at his home.

Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from noon to the service time Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery – Oak Lawn, Illinois the following day. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Donald Robert Putnam was born on August 15, 1936 in Oak Lawn, Illinois, the son of Wilton and Anna (Stuver) Putnam. He was a graduate of Oak Lawn High School, class of 1954, where he lettered in baseball, basketball and football. Don graduated from Northwestern University in 1958. He married Gloria Stanquist on December 17, 1955; she recently passed away on January 26, 2021.

Don had a successful accounting career beginning with Arthur Anderson, Montgomery Ward, Hart Schaffner Marx, AC Nielsen and completed his career as CFO of Lujacks retiring in 2000. He was an avid sports fan rooting for the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. He enjoyed bowling and golfing and twice shot a hole in one. He also enjoyed fishing up in Canada and was a member of the Clinton Rotary Club.

Don is survived by his children: Donna (Bob) Ladner of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Jill (Mike) Schamberger of Chicago, Illinois, and Scott (Brenda) Putnam of Palos Hills, Illinois; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

Memorials can be made to the Clinton Showboat Theatre or the Clinton Humane Society.
