Peggy Carber (1928-2021)

Peggy (Mrs. Lowell G.) Carber, 92, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in her home.

Peggy was born Margaret Louise Maynard December 27, 1928, to Hosea and Mildred (Bourne) Maynard, in DeWitt, in the first framed home built in Clinton County. Peggy married Lowell George Carber on April 12, 1947. She resided in DeWitt all her life. Peggy was a homemaker and loving mother to their children Jack and Janie. Lowell preceded her in death in 1988.

She enjoyed playing cards, camping, and spending time with her grandson and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was a member of the Congregational U.C.C.

She is survived by her son, Jack of DeWitt, and son-in-law, Lloyd “Dutch” Schulz of Wheatland; grandson, Cody Schulz; brothers, Harry Maynard of Ventura, California, Jack Maynard of DeWitt, and Dennis Maynard of Milan, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Alice Carber; many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, Lowell, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Ellen Schulz, a brother, Bob Maynard, and sister, Edna Sager.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service will be held at 12:00 noon, in the funeral home. Burial following at Elmwood Cemetery.
