GRAND MOUND-Joseph Weston II, 81, of Grand Mound, IA passed away on May 6, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday May 12 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10am-12:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Quad Cities Botanical Center. Joe was born on March 16, 1940 in Hampton, VA to Joseph and Irene (Bryant) Weston. Joe enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1964-1975 with his specialty assignment operations TNG staff officer and military police office. Joe then enlisted in the Army Reserves, serving over 20 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He received a Bachelor's of Art Degree from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA. Joe was united in marriage to Shirley Tank on December 30, 1988 in Davenport, IA. He enjoyed country music dancing with his wife, Shirley. They also taught dancing classes together. He loved to refinish furniture. He was a master gardener. He created Heartland Central Garden Railway Club and volunteered at the QC Botanical Center and created their train layout. Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley; children, Alex (Julie) Weston, Jennifer (Jim) Thompson, Mark (Sue) Welzenbach, Tim (Lyan) Welzenbach, John (Sally) Welzenbach, Dan (Amy) Welzenbach; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betsy.
