John Robert "Bob" Broadrick, 79, of Vinton, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. There will be no services. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Susette; sisters-in-law, Mary Broadrick and Penny McCullough; brother-in-law, William (Judith) Burmeister; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born on April 29, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of David and Emma (Keeley) Broadrick, Sr. He graduated from Clinton High School and Clinton Community College. On September 19, 1969, he married Susette Burmeister in Cedar Rapids. Bob dedicated 40 years as a switchman for Northwestern Bell. After retiring, he discovered a passion for woodcarving and metal work. Bob enjoyed caring for many dogs over the years and watching sci-fi, especially Star Trek. He was a quiet man, but fiercely loyal to his small group of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, David Broadrick, Jr.
