Douglas Martensen age 79 of Nokomis, FL, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020. No services are being held at this time, but there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Doug was born on August 24, 1941 in Clinton, IA to Orville "Toad" and Helen (Johannsen) Martensen. He was educated in Clinton Schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1960. Doug married Dianne Stang in 1963. They had two children, Paulette and Mark. He married Sharon Caven in 1989.
Doug worked at DuPont many years and retired to Nokomis, FL. He enjoyed outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and boating. He made friends everywhere he went. Many remember him as a great storyteller.
Doug is survived by his wife Sharon; daughter Paulette (Brent) Seeser; three granddaughters, Paige, Brooke (John Gunderson), and Brenna Seeser; two stepchildren, Jeff (Theresa) Hackney and Sue (Dan) Knuth; eight step grandchildren, Aubrey Schultz, Courtney (Tom) Hobbs, Keylon (Shea) Hackney, Drew (Samantha) Hackney, and Jack, Lindsey, and Nick Knuth.
Doug was preceded in death by son Mark Martensen; sister Penny Stumbaugh; brother-in-law Steve Stumbaugh; step grandson Jeramy Tucker; and parents Orville and Helen Martensen. Memorials may be made out to family.
