Marlene Mildred Walker, 83, of DeWitt, passed away peacefully at Westwing Place Tuesday morning, November 17, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.
Marlene was born October 18, 1937, in Camanche, Iowa, to Carl Henry Vogt and Mildred Doris Lorenzen Vogt. She attended Camanche and Clinton schools, graduating from Clinton High School in 1956. After graduation she attended Iowa State Teachers College for two years. On March 21, 1959, Marlene was united in marriage to Richard Walker of DeWitt. They had four children. She worked for her stepfather, Clyde Sheldon McDonald, at Mac's DX in Camanche, and later farmed with her husband. She also worked for Clinton National Bank, County Nurses, and Visiting Nurse Association.
Marlene was a member of Emmaus Road Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, nature, fishing, gardening, walking in the woods, watching birds, and the solitude and quiet of cross-country skiing.
Marlene will be missed by her husband, Richard; children and their spouses, Reverend Brent Walker, Blue Earth, Minnesota, Kurt (Leann) Walker, DeWitt, Keith (Julie) Walker, DeWitt, and Tami (Kevin) Sweet, Nevada, Iowa; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; her brother, Carl Junior Vogt, and her sister, Darlene Hudson.
A private family service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Memorials may be made to Emmaus Road Church or DeWitt Community Hospital Foundation with a designation to Westwing Place.
