Mr. Walter L. Witt, 87, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, November 17, 2020, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf.

Walter LaVerne Witt was born March 29, 1933, in Trego, Wisconsin, to the late Herman and Mary (Russell) Witt. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Alaska from1953 until 1955. Walt farmed and was employed by Montgomery Elevator in Moline, Illinois, for many years until retirement.

He enjoyed spending with his brother Harvey, going to auctions and sales looking for bargains, attending county fairs where they took in tractors and stock cars. Walt also like to bowl and pitch horse shoes.

Surviving are a nephew, Kevin (Penny) Horton of DeWitt as well as other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Also preceding Walt in death were nine siblings.

Visitation will be at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2020. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home and will streamed at https://www.facebook.com/schultzfuneralhomes/live. Pastor Mark Zevenbergen will officiate with military rites and burial at Rock Island National Cemetery.
