Edward C. Zirbes age 91 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday Oct. 20, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. A private family funeral service will be held Saturday Oct. 24th at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. A public visitation will be held Friday 5 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Family requests that facial masks be worn for those attending. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service and burial at Clinton Lawn at a later date. Edward was born on Jan. 17, 1929 in Clinton, the son of Clyde and Anna (Outzen) Zirbes. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Ardena Harrington on Sept. 27, 1953 in Maquoketa. Edward worked as an electrician at E.I. DuPont for over 38 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, golfing, ice fishing, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Edward is survived by his wife, Ardena Zirbes of Clinton; three children, Elisabeth (Paul) Keiller of Fulton, IL, Edward “Ted” Zirbes Jr. of Peculiar, MO, and Eric (Fang) Zirbes of Iowa City, IA; four grandchildren, Eddie, James, Christian, and Angela; two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Alaina; and three nieces, Julie, Sally, and Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnn Andreson.
