David Langfitt, 74, of Camanche, died Thursday, August 27, 2020 at MercyOne – Clinton.

Memorial Services will be 11:30am, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00am to the service time at the funeral home.

David Lyle Langfitt was born on February 13, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Lyle G. and Ruth M. (Shockey) Langfitt. He was a 1964 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. He later graduated from the University of Iowa in 1972.

David married Pamela Wagner on, June 7, 1969 Iowa City He was employed with LyondellBasell for 35 years retiring in 2008.

David enjoyed bowling and golfing and served at past President and past Secretary of the Camanche Bowling Association. He was active with the United Way serving as President of the Board of Trustees in 1996, Campaign Chairman in 1992 and served on it’s Citizens Review Panel. He was a member of Camanche Kiwanis serving as its president from 2013-2014 and 2017-2018. He was also a member of Gyro International serving as District II Governor from 2012-2013; currently the District Secretary-Treasurer, and the Clinton Gyro Club’s Treasurer. He was an avid Hawkeye fan for 50 years. He was also an active member of the LyonsTrinity UMC.

David is survived by his wife: Pamela of Camanche; his children: Christopher (friend Shannon), Matthew (Amy), Justin (friend Ann), and Anthony (Emily) Langfitt; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister: Karen Scott of Camanche; and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson: Bryce Langfitt.

Memorials can be made to the Camanche Kiwanis or LyonsTrinity Methodist Church.
