Clarence Fuegen, age 91 of Clinton, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at Bickford Assisted Living Center. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Sugar Creek. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren.
Clarence was born in Sugar Creek on January 9, 1929, the son of Leo and Josephine (Banowetz) Fuegen. He married Margaret Sterk on May 3, 1952 in Sugar Creek. Margaret passed away on December 21, 1977. Clarence served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed his entire life in the rural Clinton area. Clarence was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the Miles American Legion. He enjoyed his grandchildren, the company of others, dancing, playing cards and going south for the winter.
Clarence is survived by 5 children; Charles "Chuck" (Patty) Fuegen of Morrison, Gerard Fuegen of Clinton, Annette "Annie" (Tim) Sheehan of Grafton, MA, James "Jim" Fuegen of Clinton and Kayla (Brint) Sellers of Clinton; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, April, Kelli, Connor, Maggie, Rawleigh and Landry; 2 great grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth; his longtime companion, Ruth Dunham of Clinton; 2 brothers, Gerald Fuegen of Maquoketa and Duane (Pat) Fuegen of Sugar Creek; 2 sisters Bernice (Arlin) Kilburg and Viola (Don) Kilburg both of Maquoketa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Catherine and a brother, George. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
