Darlene Scheper, 83, of Clinton and DeWitt, Iowa, died early Monday morning, August 3, 2020, at her daughter's home in Marshalltown.

Mary Darlene Scheper was born February 7, 1937, to Edna May (Kinter) and James Woods in Lilly, Pennsylvania. She was married to Wilmer Ray Mervine, with whom she had 4 children. Darlene later married Marvin William Scheper on July 21, 1979, in DeWitt. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2015, following 36 years of marriage. Darlene worked as an EMT in DeWitt for several years.

Darlene was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clinton. She enjoyed cooking for her family. With Marv, together they enjoyed spending time with 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, James (Kathy) Mervine, Frank Sr. (Tammy) Mervine, Daniel Mervine and Shirley Mervine; step-children David (Tammy) Scheper, Marvin, Jr. (Michelle) Scheper and Beverly (Steve) Utley; 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Wenturine, Rose (George) Sermon, Joyce Belgin, Myrna Woods, Perry (Patricia) Woods, and sister-in-law, Rhonda Woods; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sam, a grandson, Anthony Ray Mervine, an infant great-grandson, a step-son, Rick, and a grandson, Jeremy.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020, in the funeral home with Pastor Stephen Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Inland Cemetery, rural Bennett.
