Robert E. Mac Learn, 84, of Clinton, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Alverno.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home. Robert Eugene Mac Learn was born on November 25, 1935 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of George and Gladys (Armentrout) Mac Learn. He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School. Bob was united in marriage to Rebecca Hull on September 18, 1982 in Kankakee, Illinois.
Bob was a mechanic at McEleney Motors for 27 years retiring in 2009. He also owned and operated his own shop, Bob & Rays in Ottumwa where he was a Volkswagon mechanic. He enjoyed music and loved playing the trumpet at the Sterling Church of the Nazarene; also, Bob and Becky were Sunday School teachers for 33 years. He enjoyed playing trumpet with the Riverside Brass and Municipal Band, traveling around the United States to see family and friends and walking along the riverfront. He enjoyed photography and flying and was a member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), and the AOPA (Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association).
Bob is survived by his loving wife: Becky Mac Learn of Clinton; his daughter: Cynthia (Michael) Amirault of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren: Alyssa, Tricia and James, three great-grandchildren; his brother: Gary Mac Learn of Cottonwood, Arizona, and his sister: JoAnn Bix of Missouri; his brothers and sister-in-laws: Ray Hull of Olathe, Kansas, Wally (Caroline) Hull of Plymouth, Minnesota, Bob (Marsha) Hull of Olathe, Kansas, Nell Hull of Olathe, Kansas, and Harlan (Charla) Hull of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Ray and Bessie Hull and one sister-in-law: Geri Mac Learn.
Memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association, Sterling Church of the Nazarene or The Alverno. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Alverno for their tender care of Bob during his illness.
