Shirley J. Garrett, 87, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at her home in Camanche, Iowa.
In recognition of the current environment, no visitation or luncheon will be held, but friends and family are welcome at graveside services to be held 10:00 am, Friday, July 17, 2020 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche. Shirley Jeanne Froeschle was born March 15, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Healless) Froeschle. She attended and graduated from Clinton High School in 1951. She married Frederick Garrett on June 22, 1957 in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on January 19, 2003. In addition to Fred, she was preceded in death by her parents and all siblings; one brother and three sisters.
She worked many years for the Camanche School District administrative offices where she fondly recalled and appreciated her interaction with students, faculty and administration.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche. She loved time spent with her family and in days past loved traveling, reading and cooking. She also tremendously enjoyed many years of socializing with her friends over coffee and lunch.
Shirley is survived by her two sons: Dave Garrett of Camanche and Chris (Peggy) Garrett of Marana, Arizona; two grandchildren: Nikki (Jeff) Wachter of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Tyler Garrett of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two great grandchildren: Isaac and Beth; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Froeschle, of Clinton and Lincoln, Nebraska.
Family and friends will miss her greatly, but keep her memory in their hearts. Memorials may made to the Camanche Fire Department or the Camanche Public Library.
