James Joseph Rowan, 78, of Federal Way, Washington, passed away in his home on July 1, 2020. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Jim was born February 21, 1942 in Clinton, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Dunn) Rowan. He was a 1960 graduate of St Mary's High School in Clinton. He also graduated from Sacramento State U in California.
Jim married Kay Hendrix in 1964 & they had two children. They later divorced. Jim started his sales career in California & moved up the coast to Oregon, then Washington as a district sales representative for Atlantic Richfield Oil Co. After his retirement, Jim became an entrepreneur & started several business ventures.
Jim made his life with Kathy Dynes for the last 15 years. Jim & Kathy loved to travel the United States and see the sights. They spent part of each year in Arizona.
Jim had a wonderful sense of humor & a knack for making those around him feel at ease. He was caring & giving of his time. He spent many years delivering Meals on Wheels & taking senior citizens to their doctor appointments. He especially loved time spent with his family. As Jim was an avid walker & bicyclist, he inevitably convinced at least one of them to accompany him.
Jim is survived by his children, Terri (John) Lawler & Kristy Rowan-Sikes; his partner, Kathy Dynes; and grandchildren Lisa & Kelly Lawler and Mason & Kassidy Sikes all in Washington. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean (Richard) Kelley & Jeri Malli of Clinton and Jill Housenga of Camanche. He was preceded in death by his parents & two brothers-in-law, Ron Malli & Harry Housenga.
Memorials can be made to Camp Courageous
