Erin Mattix , 55 formerly of Welton, Iowa passed away Monday June 29, 2020 in Iowa City , Iowa.

Erin was born May 18, 1965 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas the son of Leslie Eugene Mattix and Wanda (Knight) Mattix. Erin was raised in Welton and attended Welton grade school and Central Community Schools DeWitt, Iowa.

By trade, Erin was in fabrication and enjoyed working with his hands. His hobbies included woodworking, working on cars, being outdoors and hunting mushrooms. On August 14, 2000 he was united in marriage to April Franck. They later divorced.

Erin was preceded in death by his parents, Grandmother Maude (Potter) Knight and a brother Bruce Allen Shirley

Erin is survived by his daughter Angel Capri Mattix of Cedar Rapids, Iowa , step-daughter Destiny Lynn Gatto-Toms of Marion, Iowa. He is also survived by his siblings Estelle " Sam" Harper of Maquoketa, Iowa, Franklin Wayne Shirley of Florida, Janelle Lyn Shirley of Abilene, Kansas and Leslie Hoyt "Hopper" Mattix. Also a special Aunt Iona Knight and cousin Dianne Knight both of Richland Center, Wisconsin. There are also nieces and nephews that were special in his life that brought out his mischievous and fun loving personality.

The family has chosen cremation. Due to Covid-19, at a later date the family will plan a private gathering to reflect on memories of their brother, uncle , cousin and father.
