Frank Graham Jones of Memphis, Tenn., father of Mrs. E. J. Curtis, died Sunday afternoon in a hospital at Rochester, Minn., following an operation Saturday for sarcoma. With him when the end came were his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. N. C. Davidson of Clare, N. J.
The funeral will be held at Memphis Tuesday afternoon. The body was on its way to that city today, accompanied by his wife and two daughters.
Mr. Jones had often visited at the Curtis home in Clinton, and he had many friends here. He was born in Byron, N. Y., on May 8, 1858, the son of a Presbyterian minister. Later he went to Nilea Mich., then to Chicago, and became a telegraph operator when he was sixteen years of age. Before he was 21 years of age he entered the commission business in Missouri. Then he was agent for the old Iowa Central railroad at Osceola.
When still a young man, Mr. Jones took over the public utilities at Burlington, and after building them up he sold them to the Walsh interests of this city. In partnership with A. M. and C. K. Y. Billings he later took over the Memphis utilities, which were sold to a large syndicate. Since this transaction Mr. Jones had not been in active business.
Besides his wife and two daughters he is survived by two sons and twelve great-grandchildren.
