Clinton Advertiser, June 26, 1920
The remains of the late Thomas V. Monroe, a resident of this city, who was killed by a train in Chicago Friday morning will be brought to this city on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 and will be taken to the Grant McGee home, 336 Fourteenth avenue. James Monroe, father of the deceased and Misses Mary and Agnes Monroe, sisters, will accompany the remains here.
The deceased is survived by his parents and the two sisters named, also a brother J. G. Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock on Monday morning from St. Mary's church where a requiem high mass will be said and interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.

The remains of the late Thomas V. Monroe who met death under the wheels of a passenger train in Chicago, arrived in this city Sunday afternoon and were taken to the Grant McGee home at 336 Fourteenth avenue and the funeral was held at 9 o'clock this morning with a solemn requiem high mass at St. Mary's church, Father James Brady of Eldon, Iowa, being the celebrant. Father Coleman deacon and Father Dolan subdeacon.
The casket was attended by Messrs Ellis Small, Wm. Kennedy, John Sheppard, Thomas Kennedy, John Sheppard, Thomas Kennedy and Richard Quinn and interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were James Monroe of Chicago father of the deceased, and the Misses Mollie and Agnes Monroe sisters, Garry Monroe and two daughters, Kathryn and Evelyn, Thomas Monroe and Miss Winifred Monroe, all of Chicago.
