Rodney Henry Gluesing, age 80 of Low Moor, Iowa, passed away Tuesday at his home surrounded by his wife and children. Services will be held at 1:00PM Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory, visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the service hour Friday at the funeral home. Rodney and his twin sister Ramona were born March 1, 1940 in Plugtown, Iowa, the son of Henry and Hattie (Martensen) Gluesing. He was a 1958 Elvira High School graduate. Rodney married Janice Kennedy on August 22, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte.
He was employed at Clinton Corn Processing for 20 years, and was a mechanic for the Clinton County Secondary Roads Department in DeWitt for 25 years, retiring in 2005.
Rodney was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. He was known as the Plugtown mechanic. Rodney was an avid Chicago Cubs & Bulls fan and for many years attended the Michigan NASCAR races as a Ford fan. He and his family enjoyed camping, fishing and their annual fall trips to the Gays Mills Apple Festival.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; children, Tim (Tammy) Gluesing of Grand Mound; David Gluesing (Tina Rehr) of DeWitt; Rhonda (Barry) Emerson of Grand Mound; Edward (Denise) Gluesing of Clinton and Susie (Jason) Sharp of Camanche; he was known as Grandpa Smokey to 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren plus one on the way. Also his sister, Elaine Papagni of Camanche and many nieces and nephews.
Rodney was preceded in death by his son, Mark in 2018; great-grandson, Andrew; twin sister, Ramona Moore; brother, Irvin and his parents.
