Clarence G. Diedrich age 86 of Goose Lake, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Westwing Place in DeWitt. According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 7th at the Pape Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-6 PM on Wednesday, May 6th at Pape Funeral Home. In compliance with the Iowa Department of Public Health, no more than 10 people will be allowed to gather during the visitation. Inurnment will be at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Charlotte. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Derek, Dylan, Danae and Damon Diedrich, Demi Adrian, Adam Stolk, Season Kutch and Timon Brooks.Clarence was born on January 20, 1934 in Clinton County, the son of George and Rose (Rickerl) Diedrich. He married Marietta Sullivan on May 5, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bryant, IA. Clarence was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte and a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially attending horse shows, barrel races and training barrel horses.
Clarence is survived by his wife Marietta; his children, Dan (Cindy) Diedrich or Charlotte, Deb (Robyn) Rogis of Bryant, Dale (Tammy) Diedrich of Goose Lake, Dave Diedrich of Goose Lake and Duane (Christine) Diedrich of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Nicki, Cody, Adam, Season, Timon, Amy, Jared, Angela, Ace, Addison, Sydney, Chavez, Derek, Dylan, Demi, Danae and Damon; 17 great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; brothers Donald (Macel) and Dick (Diane) Diedrich; sisters Marilyn Stevenson, Evelyn Fuegen and Ellen (Steve) Maxwell and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Gerry Thomas. On behalf of Clarence’s family, a special thank you goes out to his surviving horse show family throughout the country.
Gathering of Friends
